Hello everybody welcome back to a new episode of the upbeet dietitians podcast
0:39
hello everyone today we're going to talk about a very exciting topic we're going to talk about how to eat intuitively
0:46
while traveling I'm sure this has definitely come up at some point where we're like oh my gosh I'm
0:54
leaving my home place or I know where to get food I know where how the appliances
1:00
work I'm in environment I'm very familiar with how do I handle eating while
1:06
traveling and that's what we're going to talk about today and great yeah yeah if
1:11
you're on your intuitive eating Journey depending kind of where you're at on that Journey you may have mastered you
1:18
know like your hunger and fullness and routines and all of that like when you're at home but maybe you're feeling nervous about like how to do that
1:23
differently when things aren't in routine which makes sense like it can be
1:28
kind of easy to figure out how to easy and heavy air quotes to like figure
1:34
out how to eat intuitively like on a day-to-day schedule but when things change that's when it gets a little tricky on figuring out how to navigate
1:40
hunger and fullness cues and food choices and the why behind your choices so we're gonna go into all that today
1:46
yeah I'm excited me too because we recently traveled together twice yeah
1:54
and we did not do very good at intuitive eating we kept getting too hungry and
1:59
then we over ate and it was not great so we'll give things to do instead of that
2:05
don't recommend yeah listen to what we say not what we do yeah or however that
2:10
phrase goes yeah so let's start right off the bat with
2:17
our little tip we want to talk about artists we are a little point we want to talk about within Tut of eating while
2:23
traveling is remembering that food is part of the experience food should not
2:28
be stressing us out while traveling the biggest stress there should be where
2:34
are we going to eat next which is a legitimate stressor at times
2:40
but essentially it's okay to enjoy foods that maybe are a little bit more
2:46
specific to the culture or are something a little bit just different from like
2:52
say like for our examples in the U.S maybe we're going to like a southern area and
2:58
there's something different there and we want to try the cuisine it's okay to eat all the foods in any of
3:06
the foods from like a satisfaction standpoint of like oh my gosh I've never experienced this before let's try it out
3:13
and see how it goes and you'll notice and we're giving you
3:19
permission to eat kind of whatever you want but you also note that eating a lot of like rich and heavy Foods you might
3:25
not feel super great so naturally when we're kind of listening to our body that's something where we've been
3:31
working on we want to make sure that we are incorporating some gentle nutrition and trying to maybe eat a vegetable here
3:39
or there or drink water and kind of do little things like that to make sure
3:45
we're nourishing our body to make sure we don't not feel great but also
3:51
there are kind of some cases where we only have so much control over what we have access to so
3:58
experience the food enjoy the food listen to your body you know if you
4:04
don't want to feel great by eating a bunch of rich food and trying it that's okay as well
4:09
yeah depending on maybe the length of your vacation or what you're going for maybe it's just a very food heavy
4:16
vacation that's fine it's not like you're gonna do that's it's a special occasion
4:23
you're not and also like if you don't want to feel great that's not our decision to make
4:28
for you that's up to you yeah yeah I mean the biggest reason I
4:34
like to travel besides like businessy things that I've got to do is um for food like I will go to a place
4:42
because of the food choices I can get there and if I go somewhere I like to ask everyone around me I know that's been there like what's the good food to
4:48
get when you go to this place so like Emily said like it's okay to enjoy the different foods
4:57
there that maybe are not what you're used to actually encourage doing that and it may lead to some uncomfortable
5:03
feelings if you do overeat because you skipped meals or because they're just really delicious
5:10
um or you're just not used to that type of food and didn't maybe know how rich
5:15
it was I don't know whatever it is like there might be cases where when you are traveling and eating different foods that you maybe can't honor hunger and
5:22
fullness to like an optimal level and that's okay like we say it says all the
5:27
time here on the podcast that like intuitive eating is not the hunger and fullness diet it's a big part of it it's two of the principles but
5:34
um being perfect so to speak is not really a thing but you know what I mean being perfect is
5:42
not really the goal it's just to keep that hunger and fullness in mind most the time but giving yourself Grace if
5:48
you do ever get too hungry or get too full yeah
5:54
yeah absolutely this is a good segue into our next one so yes there's kind of this idea with holidays too coming up
6:00
when you're listening to this but also if we when we travel there's this idea of like calories don't count when you go
6:07
on vacation and we don't like this mindset because it is like giving
6:13
permission to ignore your fullness cues which again may have might happen but it's kind of like putting you in a
6:20
situation where you almost always are going to overeat and just feel really uncomfy and honestly like calories
6:25
always do count that's a good thing like we need calories calories are a bad thing if we didn't have the calories
6:31
from all of our delicious food on vacation we'd have no energy which is like what Emily and I experienced recently like we were just pooped
6:37
because we had no calories in us so calories don't count as like one of
6:43
those like toxic positivity things if you ask me because like calories do count and that's a good
6:49
thing so yeah get rid of that mindset if you're struggling with that yeah thank goodness for calories because they keep
6:55
us going and they keep us they give us energy they help us stay concentrated
7:02
um if you have a big day ahead of you you need to eat while you're traveling if you're going on a hike or you're
7:08
going on a bus tour and you need to go to multiple sites you need to eat or
7:13
else you're going to not feel great and then maybe not enjoy those experiences as much
7:20
so thank goodness for galleries we love I feel like that I feel like people don't talk about that enough we always
7:26
hear the like like you always just hear about how bad calories are yeah but no one talks about like
7:32
yay calories yeah I big fan big fan keep up the good work next to me
7:40
like I love I love food I know is the dumbest thing to say from a dietitian but
7:47
yeah obviously I love food yeah like colors are good that's the that's the bottom line here absolutely
7:54
which I also feel like we can talk about this next point a
7:59
little bit with kind of the prospect of like cowers don't count
8:08
the other side of it is let's not compensate for days that maybe we eat a little bit
8:15
more than we're used to or we eat something differently or we feel like we're eating something quote unquote bad
8:22
we don't need to overcompensate for that so you know your body's very smart it
8:27
does a lot of really crazy things and one eating occurrence or one day or even
8:36
a trip is not going to throw you into complete
8:42
like a chaotic Health State turmoil no
8:47
only thing I will know is like if you have like obviously if like you have an
8:53
allergy to something or you have a chronic condition where like eating a food
8:59
could affect your lab value so like something like that and it's not to say like I'm not saying like carbs and
9:04
diabetes like not that correlation it's like if if you have a chronic condition that
9:11
affects us you know like I don't you you were talking to you and you know it's
9:16
you yeah we're not talking about those situations but in general your body's very smart we
9:23
don't have to do anything crazy we don't need to skip meals the next day we don't have to do extra workouts and sacrifice
9:29
sleep while we're traveling to make sure we can go to the gym in the hotel that morning or go for a run beforehand
9:37
and if you do overeat one like give yourself Grace you're
9:43
human it's okay it happens to all of us or
9:49
two pretty practiced intuitive eaters and obviously recently we didn't practice that well and that's fine
9:57
um and we can just we just need to move on go on with how maybe a little more typical day of
10:03
eating would look like and you don't have to do anything crazy to make up for
10:08
it and punish yourself yeah so I'd say that applies like not only on vacation like you had said like if you
10:15
eat a big dinner don't feel like you have to burn it off the next day and get up early and go work out at the hotel gym but also when you get back from
10:22
vacation like there's no need to like go on some crazy detox diet when you get back from vacation because you ate out
10:27
of routine or you know start doing these crazy workouts like I know Emily's like triggered by this I forgot about all
10:35
these things yes so like go on vacation and then when you get back I know it's hard to Define what normal
10:40
is especially if you are someone who is really working on this and you're kind of a beginner all these
10:45
non-deady things but um what's definitely not going to be recommended is
10:51
jumping on a diet bandwagon cutting Foods out we all know how that ends so
10:56
get back to whatever typical either is and feels good for you whatever you kind
11:02
of want it to be whatever you're kind of working on before versus compensating after vacation
11:09
yeah yeah all right let's go to the next one um this kind of goes back to like
11:14
experiencing all the local Cuisine try new things like you're on vacation and food is so exciting I'm sure someone
11:20
listening can relate that like that's a fun reason to travel is just for like new restaurants and stuff
11:26
um pretty much anywhere you go like there's some kind of like local whether it's like a in the US like a regional
11:32
food or if you're like really traveling like internationally like a totally new cultural Cuisine you could try
11:38
um so don't be afraid to do that and that can make it it can be really scary because again if you are someone in the beginner stages
11:45
so to speak of intuitive eating it can be really scary to try new things if you have gotten used to
11:50
your day-to-day but it's going to be a good challenge and that's how you're gonna get even better at intuitive
11:56
eating is by getting out of that day today and being able to adapt all the principles and things you've learned in
12:03
different like I don't want to say seasons of life but like different situations yeah
12:10
this is instead of viewing it as a scary time
12:17
we could view it as an opportunity that we might not have again we're like oh my
12:23
gosh when's the next time I'm gonna be in Belgium by the next time I'm going to
12:29
be in Japan or the next time we want to make it local to us like the next time I'll be in New York or like something
12:36
like that where you're in such a fun environment in such
12:43
a great environment to try authentic Cuisine like of that area
12:50
you can be really scared to try new things but you don't have to even eat it all you
12:56
can just try a little bit Yeah split it with someone get a sample and like if
13:01
you get it and you don't like it you can always throw it out like you don't have
13:06
to force yourself to eat this but it could be a really fun opportunity
13:12
yeah so yeah pretty things yes so
13:18
we kind of touched face that this next one a little bit kind of all throughout but
13:23
try and incorporate gentle nutrition when possible this doesn't mean food
13:29
we're not about to list out some food rules for you to follow while traveling or if you don't follow these you're a
13:36
bad intuitive eater no no I think there are no good intuitive eaters and there
13:42
are no bad intuitive years they're just people eating trying to listen to their
13:47
body again and trust their body so we do have a couple tips though to kind of keep in mind to incorporate
13:55
whenever possible so the first one being drinking water especially while you're traveling and
14:00
moving around and maybe you're drinking more alcohol or you're drinking more different types of mixed drinks like
14:07
juices or whatever it is make sure you're drinking water you're probably moving a little bit more you might be in
14:15
different types of climates whether it's hotter Weather colder weather and our thirst cues I don't know if
14:22
we've ever said thirst cues on here I don't know why I don't like that word ew thirties your
14:29
I can't think of something I was about to say salivating cues hydration meter
14:36
that sounds a little better than thirsty I don't know they're both pretty bad air hydration station meter cues that's the
14:45
worst person thirsty um might be a little bit off based off
14:51
of kind of what we have going on make sure you drink water yeah carry a water bottle with you
14:57
when you're at a restaurant making sure you're ordering water as well make sure you drink water
15:02
next thing you know is trying to eat a protein Source at every meal or at every eating currency if possible this will
15:08
help you feel satiated making sure we're giving ourselves something that's going to have more of that long lasting energy
15:15
with it and I'll make you feel a little bit better additionally trying to
15:20
incorporate some of those non-starchy veggies whenever possible this is just a little bit way to kind of maybe keep
15:27
everything moving we don't want to experience constipation that's not fun
15:32
tonight I would not recommend and I feel like it's something that people
15:38
experience very often well certainly you're in a different bathroom
15:43
environments like elevation affects GI Health yeah
15:49
um probably eating less fiber based off of
15:55
just trying new things they tend to be a little bit more carb heavy that tend to
16:01
be a little bit lower in fiber so add in some non-starchy veg make sure your bowels are happy because when our
16:08
bowels are happy we're happy yeah I'm a good pooper usually but even when I
16:13
travel I at first I'm like oh it's just not not the same I'm like same time
16:20
every day yeah and that's another thing is like the time zone when you're changing time zones your body's completely thrown off
16:26
so it needs all the help it can get and then the last thing I'll note is
16:33
trying not to skip meals whether it's you get really busy or we're
16:38
overcompensating for a different meal don't skip your meals even if it's something small it'll probably
16:46
affect your energy might cause you to overeat later I want to make sure we're constantly
16:52
feeling our body to do all the fun things on vacation yeah Emily and I when we were traveling
16:59
recently we just got so busy that we would just like forget to eat which is not usually like us and then we would
17:05
wonder why we were exhausted at like three o'clock in the afternoon yeah and then we would
17:10
eat all the snacks all the snacks and not be able to like know what we want oh
17:16
my gosh you're so indecisive and I still go with that anyway because I always want to like try all the new things and I don't like making decisions
17:22
yeah about food because I want to eat everything yeah anyway don't be like us
17:29
no all right our next learn from us what'd you say learn from us learn from
17:34
us yeah um our next one is all about Movement we mentioned it a little bit with like the whole compensating thing but when it
17:41
comes to exercising on vacation if it feels good do it like some vacations are even based around movement like hiking
17:48
trips for example I know Emily does that a lot um but I know I used to do this like
17:53
we'd be on like a family beach vacation and I would every single day be at the like Resort gym or whatever because no
18:01
days off that whole thing so don't feel like you have to do that if you want to go for it if it just
18:07
helps you kind of stay in that routine it helps you feel maybe like that constipation's improved if you're doing more of that activity if there is a good
18:15
reason behind or a supportive positive reason behind that choice to work out go for it but honestly I see clients a lot
18:23
who travel and they will just mention how they're actually usually more active when they are on a trip for whatever
18:29
reason whether they're like walking around like Disney World getting like 18 000 steps a day or
18:35
um maybe it's like a hiking trip um there's I'm sure a lot of nature or a lot of trips where the nature of it is
18:41
just to relax and not move that much and that's okay too but you might even find
18:47
that if your day-to-day is usually kind of sedentary due to like your job or whatever you're doing throughout the day
18:52
it might actually be the case that you're more active while you're on vacation so a lot to say that bottom
18:58
line of movement feels good do it but don't do it because you feel like you have to or that you're gonna gain 80
19:04
pounds if you don't work out that week no you'll be okay
19:10
if you miss a day your body your body needs to rest yeah anyway but you'll be
19:16
okay so we had a we have a little list of
19:22
convenient items to have on hand this will help making sure you're eating enough if you maybe you're going a long
19:28
period of time without eating a meal um and we wanted to share them with you because for the most part they're pretty
19:35
they're all pretty shelf stable so like if you don't have access to a fridge while you're traveling and whatnot so
19:44
first thing to note is having fruit on you fresh fruit canned fruit dried fruit
19:50
all really great options for some quick energy and an easy snack and we'll be
19:56
able to sit in a car or sometimes like a bag whatever it is
20:03
um super easy next thing you'll know are like pre-portioned out snacks are super easy so Hannah's popcorn for example or
20:11
you could do like pretzels Goldfish crackers anything like that it's also super easy to have on hand we'll be able
20:18
to maintain different temperatures very easily Andy's super easy to carry protein shakes and protein bars are
20:25
really easy biggest thing I'll note with this is like a protein shake I think a lot of
20:31
them are shelf stable you just I would just check to make sure it's not like
20:36
um it contains Dairy for a long period of time but even then like they're shelf
20:42
stable so you open them usually like the proof my proteins are Fairlife ones which are what I would usually do
20:48
um they're shelf stable until you open it and they do taste better cold too so of course like if you just prefer it
20:53
that way then find a way to get it cold if you can but like yeah once you open it or once you do refrigerate it has to
20:58
stay refrigerated but good to know otherwise it's just stable until then
21:04
that's crazy don't ask me how it's a food size that's what to say like how does that work but that's not a
21:11
question for us no let's we'll bring our food scientists on be like so
21:17
what is happening um another easy step nuts and seeds you
21:25
make a little trail mix super easy because they're gonna have some fat and protein in there it's going
21:31
to help us when we say tiny sampling give us a little bit more maybe long-lasting energy
21:36
putting your Jello cups are super easy as well
21:41
the pudding's one that also I'm like how does that work but you know I'm not one to question the science that's oh no I'm
21:48
I'm happy that we live in a world where I can keep putting out for months and
21:54
it's not gonna go bad like wow I love this life yeah oh my gosh ignore that
22:00
sorry what did you notice oh I I had my
22:05
phone on accidentally no okay your volume really far down because they're all headphones so I can barely hear
22:11
anything well if I scare anyone I'm sorry yeah but what a crazy world we live in I
22:18
know really great if we have like a zombie apocalypse and we need food you're opening a can of worms
22:25
Ross does not listen to this so that's good um he is going through a phase right now
22:31
where he is like scared that like the world's gonna end and so he bought like some of those like
22:38
like military Meals yeah like just like one day at work he like
22:45
ordered them on Amazon and like they came to the house and I was like him in Amazon I know he like an Amazon junkie
22:51
he's the reason why Jeff Bezos is a billionaire um he's keeping him in business yeah
22:59
but like what yeah he's like prepared I like did something won't tell me why
23:05
I'm like because I was gonna say like lockdown for each people out but this was like that was two years ago
23:13
yeah so now we have stuff like come over to my house and we get to the zombie
23:19
apocalypse we have some snacks not very much he didn't get that much probably enough for the two of us to last for like a week or two I was gonna say yeah
23:25
maybe don't take my stuff actually stay away but that's crazy I don't he like won't
23:31
tell me what it is like why he like all of a sudden like had this like urgency to do that
23:37
and then like he like called me that day before I knew he ordered it and he was like I'm just like I'm working on getting
23:43
some stuff for uh someplace we need it like we got flashlights like
23:49
I'm like what did you see on Tick Tock that like that made you nervous that we're gonna get eaten up by zombies
23:58
I don't think this girl at work that'll listen to this either one of the girls at work last
24:04
week was saying the same stuff there has to be something going on I know I'm like what am I not getting what
24:10
am I missing she's like I don't know I don't have a reason to say this but like I had this like feeling that like the world's gonna end or something
24:18
and what's so funny is like her and Ross we've always joked the last like three years or the same person it's kind of
24:23
funny kind of like you actually too um like they have so many similarities it's so weird
24:30
um I it's so funny like everyone I have a friend is basically also Ross you have
24:37
a specific type yeah um but I don't know what it is they had to
24:42
seen something I know I know you don't just like think about that unless you have a reason to
24:48
something Sparks that like right tell them to get pudding yeah putting in
24:56
some protein shakes you can get some popcorn pretzels nut seeds this is
25:03
actually a survivalist this isn't a travel convenience we're preparing you guys for the zombie apocalypse how to be
25:09
an intuitive eater during the end of the world we should do an episode on that like if
25:17
the world's ends the fools we could do it even though we're spoiling it now yeah skip this part we cut it out
25:26
oh my gosh so yeah I've got stuff I don't know what he bought I need to look and see like what the food is it's
25:31
probably nasty I think it lasts I was gonna say you should do a taste test but I don't know
25:36
if he'd be happy if you taste tested his zombie apocum was the apocalypse happens right and you can be down a meal that
25:44
could have kept you alive I know or giving you enough energy to run away
25:49
from the zombies yeah don't skip meals because the zombies will get you
25:55
otherwise you need those calories to beat up some
26:00
zombies yeah that actually does scare me I don't know if zombies are real I don't even know I don't know my thoughts on that
26:06
zombies and ghosts I don't know but I'm terrible we talked about this last
26:13
episode but I'm all team aliens I'm very much team aliens because there's no
26:19
we've done the research but I I agree there's just like no way us humans like
26:26
there's no way us as a species like look how we're handling life right now and we're alive no we can definitely
26:31
someone's smarter than us no no yeah we cannot be the like the like the top of the totem pole
26:38
like there's no one we're probably at the bottom yeah that's so crazy
26:43
I always Bobby and I talk about this we're like What if the insects or like something like comes
26:52
together it turns against humans do you know how easy like bugs in the world or
26:58
like I mean there's they outnumber Us by I don't even know how much they just need to like figure it out and we're
27:05
easily outnumbered and that's just here yeah on stupid Earth there's so many
27:11
other planets yeah I I don't know about zombies I haven't really put that much thought into it
27:17
that's what I'm saying like I don't know about those because I just don't I don't know much about it no
27:24
but like the whole idea is like you just die and come back as a zombie right no I thought you have to get bitten or
27:29
like you have like the you have to have like in the sickness oh yeah so where'd
27:35
the idea come from like has there ever been a zombie before or someone's like created as like a mythical thing I don't know
27:41
why are we running with it so much why do we make so many movies about it right
27:47
and like why are we all kind of nervous about zombie apocalypse I mean it's kind of like pandemic like where there was a
27:54
sickness that went around and then in our case our our current pop
28:01
current life hope there isn't another one because I don't want to go through that all over again
28:08
um in our case it was respiratory related that led to of sometimes death
28:13
but it could easily be oh my gosh okay I don't okay this is
28:18
we're going octane but I didn't know what they got into today it's fine I one of my friends that you also know from
28:26
Purdue they had uh like grad school project where they had to like develop a
28:32
virus but explain the entire method methodology of it from a biochemistry
28:37
standpoint so like this person's very smart obviously but they created a virus
28:44
that mimicked rabies and it was respiratory it was it was transferred
28:50
airborne and I forget what else it was but it was like zombie-like
28:56
but with rabies and they somehow created it like virus wise
29:02
and explain the entire pathology of it where like it could make sense
29:09
and I'm like what if people are doing that and if it's like Airborne like an
29:16
Airborne zombie disease it's over for all it's like you just breathe it in and then you're a zombie
29:22
or like what are the symptoms like pre-zombie symptoms where like you're kind of a human kind of a zombie
29:28
when you become a zombie like before you die like is it the same when you're just
29:33
like that determine through it yeah and like if she could create that
29:39
like that could be made oh we're screwed probably on to
29:45
something maybe I married a smart man you're right
29:50
you're gonna you need to start like building your house to be a safe house
29:55
or like just some room to be a safe house with the food
30:02
I just don't want to deal with that at that point either I like just take me
30:07
zombies like it's not even worth it I'm gladly join them like what am I mean there aren't just maybe we're the Bad
30:13
Guys maybe the zombies are the good guys that's a good perspective yeah
30:19
and you don't know if they'll be smart enough to like what are they trying to build like what's their deal
30:25
I don't know you don't you don't watch Spider-Man movies no
30:32
um there's a Spider-Man movie where this professor wants to make everyone a lizard because he thinks everyone's life
30:40
would be better right there is why I don't watch the Spider-Man movies and there was one of my favorite Tick
30:47
Tock jokes you know how like Tick Tock can people could be funny really sometimes I take time one of my favorite
30:53
I don't know maybe it was a year or two ago it was probably a year ago when like no way home Spider-Man like Spider-Man
31:00
knowing home came out um and oh spoiler alert if you haven't seen
31:06
it 11 months later skip ahead like 45 seconds
31:11
um but he comes back and everyone like on Tick Tock like someone would show like some like really sad event and it
31:19
wasn't even always Spider-Man related but people would be like but our lives would be so much better if
31:24
we were all lizards and it was a running joke for so long or like it was like
31:30
someone got I don't know it would be like even really dark like someone would be talking about like a chronic illness and
31:36
people would be like but you wouldn't have it if you were a lizard I'm like oh my god
31:44
um but like maybe your legs would be better for all zombies right I wouldn't have to pay Phoenix Ross should it be
31:50
protecting again so maybe he should be joining them I know if Ross goes ongoing like they can take us both they take
31:57
Finn oh a little Finn zombie he wouldn't hurt anybody he'd be so cute
32:04
[Laughter] play yeah yeah oh
32:10
he's like right next to me look at him little zombie guy he could never hurt a fly
32:15
no I wonder if like if a dog zombie bites even turn into a dog or if like
32:21
well the same virus in the movie I Am Legend have you seen
32:27
that movie I'm not a movie person I've probably seen like five movies in my entire life that's
32:34
not counting that like Disney movies and stuff I've obviously seen like as a kid but like classic movies like that that I
32:42
know I've heard of a billion times you would not like iron Legend I'm gonna spoil it for you because you don't like
32:50
scary things right hate scary movies okay it's like kind of a thriller and I get scared um spoiler alert if you also
32:57
haven't I'm legit's been out for at least five years yeah I've heard so if you also skip ahead but the dog dies
33:06
nope and I the first time I watched it I literally was crying nope but the dog
33:12
was bit by zombie dogs [Music]
33:18
Will Smith the main character had like killed his dog so he wouldn't be a zombie um
33:23
but the zombies went after the dog they didn't go after
33:29
well no they didn't go after Will Smith hmm
33:35
but also the dog was protecting yeah a little spit so like
33:41
the only movies like I don't want to watch things like that like I want to watch the office and shit's creek new
33:47
girl and just not have to be stressed out while watching TV or sad I have yeah
33:52
I can cry at any point from other events in my life like I do not need a movie to make me sadder that's true stressed out
33:59
so you don't like movies where like you like the sad love movies no book okay
34:05
I feel like that was traumatic for me but there were
34:12
also times we intentionally watched sad movies because we're like I want to cry you went okay you would watch coming
34:19
home from military videos I remember this discount I've got out of that no more okay you would do that
34:25
intentionally to yourself I know I don't know why I think I think I just wanted to be sad because
34:31
I I don't I don't know I can't explain that hey we weren't you weren't sad enough yet yeah but now we've reached
34:38
our threshold now every threshold I do not need that in my life any kind of like sad like Ross will tell you if
34:45
we're like watching tick tocks together in like a sad like dog video comes up like no you like Goddess Girl he's like
34:51
oh it's happy sad like nope I don't care I do not need to be crying more than I'm already crying I do not need this
34:57
yeah that's why I like I don't venture out with like shows or movies because I'm
35:03
comfortable with the office shit's creek new girl like this speaks upon I think
35:09
this speaks upon anxiety like the comfortability of knowing what to expect exactly I don't I don't like
35:16
new things I like to be comfortable I want a really
35:22
boring life where I have a comfortable amount of money and I just know it's always going to
35:27
happen I'm also a control freak so that's also part of it I've been an anxious mind control freak
35:36
every episode we just broke down more about theirs you have the podcast I have
35:42
the podcast thanks for being our free therapist guys yeah and then we don't hear what you say
35:48
back thanks for listening to us as crazy I am yeah
35:53
we should finish this list we're like literally almost done with the episode and then we do this I think we literally
36:00
just talked about zombies for 15 minutes I'm not even kidding
36:06
okay so let's just knock through the rest of these easy convenience items for packing or while traveling or in a
36:13
zombie apocalypse so you could do like tuna or chicken starkist packets super
36:18
easy fun place on hand for protein and energy to fight zombies or to hike a
36:25
mountain um canned protein is also super easy I only thing I would think is with canned proteins making sure you either have a
36:31
can opener or it's the ones you can like pop peel yeah because we want to access our food
36:37
we can have it but we need to be able to open it oh additionally flavored beverages are
36:44
super great to have something different on hand like you could or you could also bring like Neo with you to add some like
36:50
flavoring Sparkling Waters are super easy as well or if you just need access
36:56
to water maybe just you brought a water bottle with you but you don't have access like a water fountain bottled
37:01
waters good to have on hand as well yeah so now that we got through all that
37:08
very quickly after our and that was literally a Tang at the end of the bulk
37:13
of the episode yeah sorry we would deterred you so quickly we LED you on that this episode
37:20
about putting a shelf stable and now here we are well you mentioned Ross I thought the
37:27
world was going to end and I we can't skip over that maybe he knows something I know and now we're like warning you
37:33
guys not that we're conspiracy people we don't want to freak you out but
37:39
this just think about it make your own decision yeah Ross did without consulting me he just
37:45
went for it like Hannah will thank me later yeah honestly I'm glad like we're a good pair
37:52
because I would never think of that I would just stress about it until it actually happens
37:58
and then I'd be like well this sucks I mean if it's good for that long in
38:03
like 20 25 years or however long it works for you could just get another round of it right we'll just eat that up
38:09
like the episode of The Office where Dwight is like going through his like bunker food yeah
38:15
okay bottom line intuitive eating while traveling can
38:21
seem scary especially if you're in the beginning of your journey um because it's new and you don't know what to expect but like Emily said flip
38:29
that mindset from like a place of maybe nervousness and fear to more of like
38:34
viewing it as an opportunity a time to grow a time to learn I know it's not as easy as us just saying to flip that
38:40
mindset but hopefully thinking about differently can help you have a more positive experience yeah we want you to have fun yeah and
38:48
enjoy all the good food I'm guessing the reason why you're traveling is hoping for fun reasons so
38:53
to ruin your fun no so let's talk about the bonus question
39:02
our bonus question today is an interesting one it's so Random I know
39:08
the question is [Music] oh my gosh I don't know what just came
39:16
out of me is meatloaf just
39:22
a meatball yeah like is Meatloaf just a long giant
39:27
low long rectangular Square meatball
39:34
I feel that it is I feel the I've made both I make both regularly honestly I
39:41
meatballs this week and the ingredients are pretty similar it's just a big old hunk of
39:49
ground usually ground beef is what I do yeah
39:55
I'm thinking if like you did a taste test side by side only thing I would note is
40:00
the sauce on Meatloaf I was just gonna say I just like it off ketchup heavy on Meatloaf
40:06
I do like a barbecue or like a tomatoey but even if you did the tomatoey one
40:12
yeah only thing I'll note my family adds a lot of like onion and
40:19
carrots that are long so I would know um
40:26
I was gonna go into the idea of meatloaf and the idea of Meatballs but I don't think I have the energy for that what do
40:33
you mean like the idea of Meatballs we think like spaghetti we think like more Savory I like sweet Meatloaf I don't
40:41
really put ketchup on Meatloaf actually oh sweet like barbecue sauce like sweet
40:47
barbecue sauce um nothing it's like you putting like jelly on your meatloaf or what no
40:56
um but like when I go into beetloaf I'm expecting something probably sweeter
41:02
with strands of veggies from my standpoint with like potatoes
41:10
meatballs I think more cheese do you add cheese to
41:15
meatloaf or do you know we love with cheese okay I think I'm just thinking like parmesan
41:22
oh I think my short answer is they are the same
41:27
same my long answer is but there's like they're kind of still the same different
41:33
topics there's just like so many variations of Meatballs there's even like in different like cultures different kinds of Meatballs but we're
41:40
talking like Americanized like some good old ground beef yeah I think they're the same
41:47
well different forms it's just beef in different forms yeah
41:55
both delicious do you like both of these I love both these yeah yeah I just love beef I had beef 20 minutes I love beef
42:04
so much too I used to not eat it because you know sort of eating
42:10
um and I had like no energy because I had like no iron ever and so I was definitely deficient I know you had a
42:16
phase two where you were yeah but luckily
42:21
luckily get all anemia always drained me so much that I kind of
42:27
never I never really strictly took it out only because my ferriting at one
42:32
point was like seven which is really bad
42:40
it tastes good I honestly like the biggest thing is the cost like you can find any meat these days
42:47
yes meet me is so expensive also I hate cooking meat unless it's ground because
42:52
ground I can see if it's cooked um the other day I did like a grilled chicken I was like before I served it I
42:59
cut it open I'm like no yeah make sure it's cooked just because I'm nervous Ross is really good at Meats
43:06
so ideally I like what he does the meats and I like to do like the sides the veggies the starches that kind of stuff
43:12
that's a good pair yeah I like to grow I like to do Meats but I get nervous too
43:19
yeah Russell's just good at it he like rarely undercooked stuff he's good at like getting a perfect place that's good okay
43:25
thank you guys for tuning in to another episode of the Pod we will be back as always next week with something real
43:32
special for you yeah go out and enjoy your vacation
43:38
and try all the good food and just in case there's a zombie
43:43
apocalypse get some shelf stable Foods pudding will do
43:49
yeah cool so have a good night we'll talk to you later bye guys bye
